Enlace is a strategic alliance of low-wage worker centers, unions, and community organizations in Mexico and in the U.S. We partner with our member organizations in international campaigns to motivate abusive multi-sector transnational corporations to treat workers and communities with dignity and respect.
Enlace uses an integrated approach to organizing, creating unique campaign strategies while developing systems strengthening organizations internally. Our strategies often cross industrial and sector lines for reasons relating to both workforce development and campaign strategy.
In addition, the Enlace Institute presents trainings in strategic organization development that were developed over the many years of learning through our campaigns. Our collaborative brainstorming processes are useful for virtually all work groups in base-building organizations.

Prison Divestment Campaign
SYSTEMATIC FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT DUMPS PRISON STOCK
Systematic Financial Management, a investment company that manages over $13 billion in investments for local governments, retirement funds, corporations, wealthy individuals and unions has divested over one million shares in the for-Systematic joins the ranks of other US institutions that have divested from the private prison industry including the Allianz, United Methodist Church, the Presbyterian Church USA, General Electric, and Pershing Square Capital Management among others.Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and the GEO Group (GEO), which own the majority of the private prison market in the U.S., depend on the massive incarceration of immigrants and people of color to maintain financial viability. Both companies are heavily involved in lobbying Congress and federal agencies for policies and contracts that result in the inhumane incarceration of hundreds of thousands of harmless immigrants and people of color.Systematic Financial Management divested 2,754,722 shares of CCA stock and 74,550 shares of GEO stock during the third quarter of this year.
We urge the other major investors in private prisons to divest their holdings as well.
PLEASE HELP US CONTINUE OUR EFFORTS TO STOP INCARCERATION OF IMMIGRANTS AND PEOPLE OF COLOR!
Enlace, in partnership with community groups and unions across the US, is calling on all public and private institutions to divest their holdings in Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) and GEO Group, America’s largest private prison corporations which have profited from billions in taxpayer money.
Anti-immigrant laws, like Arizona’s SB 1070 and Georgia’s HB 87, are not only a consequence of racism but also of greed. It is a huge business to criminalize and incarcerate our communities because the federal government pays private prison companies an average of $122 per day per person in prison. Private prison companies like CCA and the GEO Group have influenced politicians to pass laws that criminalize communities of color to increase the prison population for more profit. These companies are making millions from incarcerating our loved ones.
The Private Prison Divestment Campaign targets the investors of both CCA and GEO to break their lobbying power and to make CCA and GEO’s abuses so visible that public and private institutions will disavow any connection to private prisons. Furthermore, we aim to ensure that the public understands how the money flows in this system and to emphasize that profiting from the separations of families, violations of human rights, and general pain caused by these prisons is inhumane and unacceptable.
